Rueda de casino (rueda) is a style of salsa that began in Cuba. Several couples form a circle (rueda means “wheel”) and dance the same moves together.

How it works

  • One person acts as the caller and shouts the calls (the names of the next moves)
  • Everyone moves to the call
  • You keep changing partners as the dance goes on

Who it suits

  • People who enjoy dancing in a big group
  • People who want to dance with many different partners

If you are new

Learning what the calls mean is the first hurdle. For beginners, it seems common to start with simple calls. Watching first to get a feel for it is also an option.
